
Toyota Industries Corporation has announced plans to create a new material handling entity – Toyota Automated Logistics – under which global names Vanderlande, Bastian Solutions and viastore Group will all operate in the United States and Europe from April 2026.
Toyota Industries says the Toyota Automated Logistics (TAL) brand will unify its European and U.S. warehouse automation-related organizations, including their subsidiaries, under a single name as part of a reorganization of its warehouse automation business.
“Through this planned reorganization, Toyota Industries aims to strengthen group-wide collaboration and improve its global warehouse automation business,” the company said.
“As part of Toyota Industries, TAL intends to combine proven performance with forward-thinking solutions to help businesses adapt to changing needs and stay ahead of the curve.
“By bringing together the strengths of Bastian Solutions, Vanderlande Warehousing Estate and viastore, TAL is expected to provide scalable systems, intelligent software and lifecycle services in a single connected offering.
Toyota Industries’ Dutch subsidiary Vanderlande Industries Holding largely runs its global logistics automation business and operates large-scale automation systems for airports, parcel management and warehouse automation.
German subsidiary via the Intralogistics Holdings store, is launching into the automation of small and medium-sized warehouses.
The American subsidiary Bastian Solutions is a small and medium-sized logistics systems integrator.
“Since the three companies joined our group, our company has strived to strengthen collaboration between organizations and create synergies through progressive organizational restructuring,” Toyota Industries said in a statement.
“In Europe, Toyota Industries plans to merge the warehouse automation businesses of Vanderlande and viastore. In the United States, the warehouse automation businesses of Bastian and Vanderlande will be integrated.
“Vanderlande will continue to specialize in airport and parcel operations, offering even higher value-added solutions and services.
“Through this planned reorganization, Toyota Industries will develop solutions tailored to the characteristics of each business segment and strengthen its sales capabilities, while effectively utilizing resources such as personnel, solution portfolio, customer base and information within the warehouse automation business to provide solutions tailored to various operations and customer segments across the world. »
Daniel Allcock, head of automation at recruiters JB Andrews, says in an article on LinkedIn that this consolidation was widely expected in the market and that it represents a very important step forward.
“It’s not just a rebranding,” he says. “This is the creation of a $3 billion-plus powerhouse with the scale, capabilities and global footprint to significantly influence the next decade of automation in warehousing and distribution, mail and parcel, and airports and baggage handling. »
It was a year of consolidation for Toyota. In January, it announced the creation of a new material handling entity with the merger of Toyota Material Handling and Raymond Corporation to begin operating under the same banner of Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA) starting April 1.
