85% of clinicians need additional AI training: Radixweb report on AI in healthcare reveals

Radixweb’s AI in Healthcare 2026 study shows that AI in healthcare is delivering results. But workforce preparation and systems integration remain major obstacles to implementation.

FRISCO, Texas, December 25, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — Radixweb has just announced the launch of its 2026 Global AI in Healthcare Report. A key takeaway is that more than 85% of healthcare professionals believe they need more training to use AI effectively, both in patient care and operations.

The results highlighted a growing gap between rapid AI adoption and workforce readiness. This comes at a time when healthcare organizations are preparing to move beyond pilots and integrate AI into daily workflows, with 100% of healthcare organizations surveyed mentioning they are using AI in some form.

This report is based on insights collected from more than 750 healthcare professionals, including physicians, leading healthcare IT executives and AI developers from all over the world. It brings together thousands of data points to give a detailed overview of how AI is used in healthcare, showing where it’s actually having an impact and what’s stopping it from growing.

“Healthcare has clearly entered its AI integration phase,” said Divyesh Patel, CEO of Radixweb. “What this report makes clear is that technology is no longer the limiting factor. Human readiness is. Clinicians recognize the value of AI, but without structured training and organizational support, this value cannot be fully realized.”

AI is making an impact, but readiness is lagging behind

According to the report, 50% of healthcare operations are using AI for efficiency-driven workflows such as planning, RCM, documentation and automation, and are seeing real impact. Clinicians and IT managers see notable improvements in their workflows and patient care. This shows that AI is going beyond simple testing and becoming a key part of operations.

However, the study also reveals structural frictions behind this progress. While clinicians increasingly rely on AI tools, 85% of them still feel the need for additional training. This skills gap introduces risks on a large scale. Even more so in environments where AI recommendations directly influence patient care.

“AI maturity is growing faster than organizational maturity.” said Dharmesh Acharya, COO of Radixweb. “We’re seeing strong adoption, but responsible scaling requires more than deployment. This requires investment in skills, governance and trust within clinical and IT teams.

Onboarding and ROI Continue to Compound Adoption Challenges

Beyond training, the report identifies system integration and value realization as compounding challenges. Fragmented legacy systems and complex regulatory environments continue to limit AI’s ability to scale seamlessly across workflows, according to 66% of healthcare IT leaders.

Additionally, while some organizations have noted early improvements in efficiency, interestingly, less than half (42%) have already realized significant returns. This highlights a gap between the timing of investments and their impacts.

According to the report, 2026 is expected to be a pivotal year in the evolution of AI in healthcare, marking a transition from AI-assisted workflows to fully AI-integrated systems. The report also highlights that the future of this progress depends on workforce skills, interoperable infrastructure and governance models that can ensure clinical trust alongside operational growth.
