About the book (from the publisher)
Generative AI has hugely influenced various fields, such as education, marketing, art and music, and especially healthcare. Generative AI can benefit the patient through various approaches. For example, it can improve image qualities negatively affected by reduced radiation, saving patients from having to repeat the imaging process. Additionally, generating one type of image from a more expensive one can help patients save money. Generative AI facilitates the administrative process, allowing the doctor to focus more on the treatment process. It goes even further by helping healthcare professionals with diagnosis and decision-making, suggesting possible treatment plans based on the patient’s symptoms.
This book presents several practical applications of generative AI in healthcare, particularly in the areas of medical imaging, pandemic prediction, synthetic data generation, clinical administration support, professional education, patient engagement, and clinical decision support, providing a review of effective generative AI tools and frameworks in this area. Generative AI strengthens the treatment process through several methods; however, there are ethical, privacy, and security challenges that require special attention. Despite the challenges presented, the technological and legacy characteristics of generative AI facilitate the path to its improvement in the future.
