At a Google event, CEO Sundar Pichai unveiled the India-America Connect Initiative, a project that will establish new submarine cable routes to strengthen AI connectivity between India, the United States and several locations in the southern hemisphere. Along with this infrastructure expansion, Google is rolling out its largest-ever skills programs, including a Google AI Professional certificate, designed to equip professionals with the skills needed to master and implement AI in their jobs.

The day’s program highlighted cutting-edge research and industrial collaboration, with the research symposium taking center stage at Bharat Mandapam. IIIT Hyderabad, as a knowledge partner, hosted presentations from leading academics and think tanks, as well as research presentations and poster sessions in the Global South.
Industry-focused sessions took place throughout the day, fostering dialogue between researchers, policymakers and technology leaders. Finalists of the AI by HER – Global Impact Challenge presented their solutions at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, highlighting applications of AI addressing real-world challenges.
