1X Technologies AS recently opened pre-orders for its NEO humanoid designed to be deployed in homes. When the company revealed its NEO development strategy in August 2024, it pivoted to focus solely on the domestic market.

NEO’s goal is to automate everyday tasks and offer personalized support so people can spend more time on the things that matter, 1X said. THE business said it provides NEO with intuitive, user-friendly features and a secure-by-design core platform.

The latest platform is built with 1X’s patented Tendon Drive, which it says uses “the highest torque density motors in the world” to drive its transmissions. This actuation system is designed to generate safe and compliant movements around people.
