EW Scripps has created a leadership team to guide the acceleration of the company’s artificial intelligence strategy.
Kerry Oslund was named vice president of AI strategy, and Christine Hartman was named vice president of emerging technology operations. Both are new positions and will report to Laura TomlinChief Transformation Officer at Scripps.
Keith St. Peterthe new director of the AI newsroom, will lead AI news strategy and report to Hartman.
“Our goal is to quickly and responsibly transform our organization into an agile environment that fosters innovation at all levels, inspiring revenue growth, efficient workflows and new product development,” Tomlin said. “AI will play a critical role in reshaping our operating systems and corporate culture.”
Oslund will lead AI strategy with a focus on business development. “Like spectrum, AI has the potential to become another fundamental asset to the business,” Oslund said. “It’s an exciting time for Scripps to be a leader in both areas.”
Hartman will contribute to strategy and continue to play a leading role in the ethical adoption of AI within the organization. “Mastering AI within our workforce and adopting it in our workflows will usher in a new era of innovation and creativity,” Hartman said. “I couldn’t be more excited to help lead this transformation with Kerry and Keith under Laura’s leadership.”
St. Peter will be responsible for training, adapting and developing solutions for newsrooms – while ensuring journalistic integrity, accuracy and fairness.
