Smart people and businesses fall into a common AI trap: the false belief that adding a layer of AI to their current processes will mask rather than reveal a multitude of past sins. If they know very well that “garbage in means garbage out,” they imagine themselves immune to waste, hallucinations and customer dissatisfaction. They think their data is better than average, despite minimal investment, or that putting a human in the loop will solve any problems that arise later.
