OKLAHOMA CITY- (KOKH) — From cutting-edge artificial intelligence that makes responders more effective to robots that assist firefighters in dangerous situations, the latest and greatest technologies are being showcased this week at the International Association of Chiefs Technical Conference. firefighters who are helping shape the future of firefighting.
“We have a video AI system for firefighters,” said Simon Goodhead, president, CEO and founder of Flash Inspector.
“It’s actually a really, really robust robot, you can put it in the most dangerous environments,” said Siddharth Thakur, founder and CEO of Paradigm Robotics.
Goodhead said its product, Flash Inspector, helps fire inspectors write reports that would otherwise take much more time.
“I was out to dinner with a fire inspector and they told me it took them a week to write up an inspection report for a one-week inspection. And I thought that seemed like a And so, as a fire engineer, I’m familiar with the codes, I knew a little bit about AI, and I started to formulate a plan on how to build a system,” he said. -he declared.
Goodhead said Flash Inspector typically prepares a given report in 10 to 15 minutes. He showed FOX 25 how inspectors simply hold the inspector flash to their ear, press the start button and start talking about what they see.
“Our system will take apart that video, it will read the transcript, then look at the different code references, bring back the code sections, bring back the image from where they were looking at the time of the violation, and then write the report for them.” , he declared.
Meanwhile, Thakur showed FOX 25 the fire robot, which assists firefighters when responding to an active fire.
“It started as a robot specifically designed to help firefighters perform search and rescue during structure fires, meaning it can go into dangerous environments, search for victims, help find them 20 times faster than a firefighter, and doing it all in the most toxic environments,” he said.
Thakur said he thought this conference was very important because the people behind these technologies could meet, network and move the industry forward.
The conference runs until Friday.
