“The expansion of the western distribution center is an important step towards greater reliability of our logistics. With this investment we will remain competitive and strengthen the Hohenlohe region, in which our company is firmly anchored,” emphasized Professor Dr. hc mult. Reinhold Würth, honorary chairman of the supervisory board of the Würth Group.
The commissioning of the logistics expansion is an important step in the logistics strategy of the Würth Group. In the state-of-the-art logistics center, processes are fully integrated into the existing logistics infrastructure to avoid splitting deliveries to the customer.
With the new distribution center, Würth increased its order picking and storage capacities by 37 percent. The highly automated shuttle system, with more than 104,000 container storage spaces, enables the daily picking of approximately 48,000 additional order lines in its final development phase. The new building is perfectly connected to the existing logistics centers via an advanced conveyor system. “Looking ahead, we have established the necessary logistics foundations to support the company’s continued growth in the years to come,” said Thomas Wahl, Managing Director and Head of Logistics at Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG.
For the strategic development of logistics, the Würth Group has set itself the goal of achieving a level of automation of 75% in companies with the highest sales volumes by 2030. The use of artificial intelligence and robotics will help us achieve this goal, increasing the levels of automation and digitalization in all operations. This cutting-edge technology not only ensures reliable deliveries in the future, but also reduces packaging and filling materials by 30%.
