Fleetio’s pricing is more affordable than most fleet management software and includes automated features, technician time tracking, and inventory management. I found several unique features not offered by the biggest names in fleet management.
Features
It appears that Fleetio goes beyond the basic functionality of a maintenance or fleet management app. Yes, you can track information about your fleet and drivers, create work orders and schedule maintenance. But in addition to these standard features, you can import information about your vehicles using a VIN lookup, track parts inventory, receive low stock alerts, and set up time tracking for technicians. These are features that any business with in-house mechanics would need.
I tested the software myself, and oh my goodness, I love the VIN decoder. I simply entered a vehicle’s VIN and the software automatically populated over 50 fields. I doubt I need to express to you what a time saver this is. I also want to point out how easy it is to get started with Fleetio; The software includes guided setup, so I didn’t have to figure out which step would be next.
Setting up a service reminder was simple. I chose the vehicle I wanted to program, chose one of hundreds of tasks, and set the interval (oil and filter change every three months). Recalls appear automatically if a manufacturer has issued one and you can read the details in the vehicle file. Each vehicle file also has a cost of ownership report, which helps you decide if it’s time to scrap an old junkyard.
There is so much data collected by Fleetio that the dashboard can be a little overwhelming at first. I found myself hiding a lot of charts that didn’t concern me and it was easier to consume data that way. You can also customize the appearance of your dashboard; Drag and drop a chart lower, higher, left, or right to bring the most important metrics to the forefront.
I wasn’t able to test the GPS tracking or other telematics reported by Fleetio because I didn’t have the hardware or software to integrate. Fleetio does not handle this aspect of things, so this software is aimed more at those who want to manage the service and maintenance of fleets.
Jim Schmidt, a member of our advisory board and deputy director of the City of Salem’s Department of Enterprise Services, commented on some of the features he likes: “Fleetio is a complete fleet management information system (FMIS) to track asset life cycles, costs. , maintenance, inventory, repairs and data analysis. The system is easy to use and has great dashboard graphics. I liked the VIN decoding feature to add details about new assets. They offer integrations for GPS tracking, dash cams, fuel and much more.
Prices
Fleetio is one of the most affordable options on the market. Prices range from $4 per vehicle per month to $10 per vehicle per month, billed annually. Considering this price, Fleetio offers incredible value. This is not, however, traditional fleet management software that includes hardware to track fuel, temperature, or driver behavior. To get a complete solution, you’ll need to integrate other hardware and tools, which will inevitably end up costing more.
Customer service
It appears that Fleetio’s support options are via phone and email. You can call the Fleetio team from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET weekdays. Otherwise, you can use a contact form on its website or via the platform. The window I opened looked like a live chat option, but it was just sending an email to support. It was after hours, so I didn’t hear from them until the next day. The rep who emailed me did so about 12 hours after my first contact, so I would rate that as responsive. Additionally, the response was satisfactory (it related to how Fleetio works with third party telematics and GPS providers).
Who should use it?
Businesses that need a detailed view of their fleet using automated processes and integrated data sources would do well to use Fleetio, especially if their fleet maintenance is managed in-house.
