Welsh Laennec AI Limited announced the completion of its pre-seed funding round, securing investment from SFC Capital and OVC Ventures, which will accelerate the development of the company’s AI-powered medical devices designed to bring affordable healthcare and patient-centered at home.
Founded with the vision of improving healthcare delivery, Laennec AI integrates advanced algorithms into a user-friendly mobile platform, allowing patients to monitor chronic conditions from home while being remotely supervised by clinicians. According to Laennec AI, this approach not only increases accessibility, but also reflects a shift towards decentralized and patient-led healthcare models.
“We envision a world where advanced medical care begins at home, and with this funding, we are one step closer to making that a reality for millions of people.” said Dr. Jase John, MBBS, MPH, Co-Founder and CEO. “By empowering patients with innovative tools and ensuring they are monitored remotely by clinicians, we are shaping the future of healthcare to be more accessible, personalized and effective. We are grateful to our investors and granting partners for their support in realizing this vision.»
Dr. Arathy Varghese, PhD, Co-Founder and CTO, added: “This is a step toward a health care model in which patients actively participate in their care. By integrating advanced technology into self-care practices, we enable earlier detection, continuous monitoring and better disease management.»
According to Laennec AI, chronic diseases remain a major cause of morbidity worldwide, particularly in underserved regions and with limited access to healthcare facilities. Laennec AI aims to address this critical challenge by delivering advanced and affordable diagnostic tools that reduce healthcare inequities and improve patient outcomes.
The platform enables earlier detection, continuous monitoring and better disease management, with the aim of enabling patients to play an active role in their healthcare journey.
Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning at the Welsh Government, said: “Laennec AI Limited’s groundbreaking work aligns with our vision to create and nurture a dynamic culture of innovation, improving standards and services, including in healthcare. I am pleased that we were able to support this cutting-edge project through our SMART Flexible Innovation Support program, and I look forward to seeing it benefit healthcare professionals and patients in the near future.»
Harrison Faull, Managing Director of OVC Ventures, added: “This highly qualified team and this transformative approach to diagnosis immediately left an impression on us. Their technology has the potential to improve patient care while significantly reducing operational costs that are straining the NHS and healthcare systems around the world. We look forward to helping the team grow its operations and deliver meaningful improvements for patients around the world while generating a substantial return for our investors.»
Funding will also support partnerships with healthcare providers and clinicians to advance remote monitoring and patient-directed care.
