The Cypriot government is moving full speed ahead with its strategic partnership with US technology giant Nvidia, part of a broader effort to modernize the country’s national infrastructure with the installation of a supercomputer scheduled to go live in June.
The collaboration grew out of an investment tour led by President Nikos Christodoulides last April, alongside ministers and investment bodies, aimed at attracting foreign investment in key sectors such as shipping, technology and energy.
Kathimerini understands that the supercomputer under development will provide computing capabilities at the national level and play a supporting role during environmental disasters and crisis situations. The project is seen as a major step forward for innovation in Cyprus, at a time when artificial intelligence is advancing at breakneck speed and requires powerful, modern infrastructure and strategic autonomy.
The enhanced infrastructure – developed in cooperation with Nvidia, which plays a leading global role in high-performance computing – AI data center infrastructure and artificial intelligence development platforms will be open to the entire ecosystem.
