Proptech startup Bedrock Robotics has allocated nearly $300 million to speed up the construction process, particularly for data centers.

Bedrock makes sensors that automate construction vehicles, like excavators, so they can clean job sites themselves. Manufacturers can add Bedrock products to their existing machines, co-founder Boris Sofman told the Wall Street Journal.

The company, founded only 2 years ago, ultimately aims to help contractors speed up construction deadlines with machines capable of operating 24 hours a day.

With this fundraising, the startup is now valued at $1.75 billion.

Alphabet’s investment arm, CapitalG, led the round. NvidiaValor Equity Partners’ venture capital arm and artificial intelligence fund also contributed, as did previous backer 8VC. The funding round happened months ahead of schedule as the pace of technology creation persuaded CapitalG to invest and trigger another funding round.

As it stands, machines need to learn how people work and therefore require human supervision. The technology is comparable to that found in robotaxis from companies such as Waymo.

In the future, Bedrock plans to expand its offerings to be compatible with demolition equipment.

Bedrock is piloting the product and targeting housing, data center and manufacturing construction sites. Accelerating these deadlines aligns with the Trump administration’s priorities, including taking the lead in the global AI arms race.

President Donald Trump signed a decree in January, which rolled back existing AI policies and regulations. An AI replacement plan and policy will be announced later this year.

Bedrock says its product will supplement the dwindling talent pool in construction instead of replacing the human element.

Non-residential construction employment decreased by 7,800 net jobs in December. That month, 11,000 jobs were lost across the sector, leading to an unemployment rate of 5%.

Last year saw the worst performance for workforce since 2011, excluding the first year of the pandemic.

THE Infusion of AI in the real estate sector has brought new life to a proptech industry that struggled to regain its footing in the years following the start of the pandemic.

Proptech fundraising has reached a milestone in 2025 after years of decline. There was 16 billion dollars raised overall, a 68% increase from 2024. The sector has already seen notable investments this year.

AI Proptech Startup Visitt Rises $22 million in a Series B round in January. The company will use the capital to integrate artificial intelligence into its operational technology.

This week, AI giant Oracle announced plans to raise up to $50 billion in 2026 to finance its AI infrastructure and data center construction, despite concerns from its investors about the return on investment of these massive figures.

The construction industry in particular is starting to embrace AI, with tools such as Alice Technologies Analytics Officer, Mercator.ai And Light Table aimed at streamlining bids, reducing change orders and smoothing lead times.
